Popping is the second element of the slapping technique. It is performed by placing the tip of your right hand index or middle finger underneath the string, pulling it sharply upwards and allowing it to hit against the fingerboard in order to cause a ‘popping’ sound. Popping, indicated in the score by a “P”, is complementary to thumb slapping and therefore indispensable. This course provides a video demonstration example and two technical exercises with their corresponding recordings, as well as eight grooves and basslines you can play along to backing tracks.
